Located in Mineola, Long Island, New York, The Nakano Dojo carries on the legacy
of O’Sensei Ronald Duncan – a pioneer of martial arts in America,
and the Father of American Ninjutsu. O’Sensei Duncan achieved Black Belts
in numerous styles of the Martial Arts including Karate, JuJutsu, Aikido, Kenpo,
Kobujitsu, and Ninjutsu. The Nakano Dojo follows his philosophy of applying these
principles to modern day self defense training. Renshi Steven Mauner and Renshi
Eric Mauner, two students of Professor Duncan, have over 25 years experience
in the Martial Arts.
In addition to the physical fighting forms and self defense, students are trained
in tactics, combat psychology, martial art history, fear control, meditation,
and mind control.
In the physical arts, students are trained in specialized elements of Karate,
Kenpo, JuJutsu, Aikido, and Ninjutsu, becoming well rounded martial artists.
The Ninja martial arts principles are used in self defense scenarios, and body
control and training. Our Ninja weapons program is the best traditional and modern
weapons education on Long Island. Whether you are looking to become a Black Belt,
want to learn weapons, or just learn basic self defense to protect yourself,
The Nakano Dojo has the best skills for you.

The Nakano Dojo of Ninjitsu is named after the first Spy School in
Modern Japan. The Nakano Dojo aim to carry on the legacy of O’Sensei
Ronald Duncan, Father of American Ninjutsu, and one of the pioneers
of martial arts in the United States.
Ancient Ninja principles are applied to modern
scenarios at the Nakano Dojo. Every day, students learn something
new that can be used practically outside of the Dojo.
Training students in situational self defense,
tactics, weaponry, proportional response, and combat psychology, the
Nakano Dojo offers a program unlike any other in the martial arts world.
Students are taught a principle of combat, and
exposed to self defense situations which develop their natural reflexive
responses, learning to control fear, and respond quickly and effectively.
Not just “stuck” in the theory of a technique, all situations
at the Nakano Dojo are performed at full speed, without choreography,
in natural reaction, in order that the student can judge his/her own
effectiveness.
Students become quick thinking, confident practitioners….capable
of defusing dangerous situations, able to disarm and disable all types
of assailants – effectively and efficiently, just like a Ninja.
Students are taught to act and re-act, attack and
defend in every situation, from every possible position- and to apply
combative tactics to any situation…whether being mugged in a
dark alley, or employing the “White Collar Ninja” Principles
and Sun Tzu’s Art of War, in a Corporate boardroom.
The Nakano Dojo has the best weapons program on Long Island. Students
are given the opportunity to learn both the traditional and practical
aspects of weaponry. Respect for the tradition is emphasized, but students
are taught how weaponry principles can be used in modern combative situations,
like a mugging.
Classes for children are geared for types of confrontational
responses which they may encounter. Emphasis is
placed on discipline, mental focus, and quick responses.
Each child is taught according to his/her respective
learning ability, and capabilities. The Nakano Dojo accepts children
from the ages of 9 and up. Children use training weapons only.
